Eventually resolved the conflict between Britain and the colonists

Talks of peace started once Britain was defeated in Yorktown

Representatives from Britain, America, France, Spain, and the Dutch Republic met at the Hotel d'York

Signed on the third day of September 1783

John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay were the main American  negotiators

Finally acknowledged the thirteen colonies were free and independent; able to govern themselves

Also allowed the colonies to expand to the West and evacuated all British forces from the colonies

Resolved the issue of property with Loyalists, since the British insisted that the Loyalists would not be denied their rights

Signified the end of the American Revolution
